Hannover CeBIT 2007 -- accommodation sought
Posted: Tue November 7, 2006 03:25 AM UTC
Hello, I am attending CeBIT Hannover next year from 15-21 March 2007 and need accommodation... but I am not being sponsored by my employer to attend so I need to find something affordable!!

Ready to consider anywhere up to 120Euros/night but would prefer much, much cheaper. The only places I can find online are more like 1000Euros/night! Far, far too expensive. I am coming from Australia, too, which means it is even more expensive as $A aren't worth much ;-)

I don't need much -- just a bed and access to a bathroom. Can somebody help me?

I did not think they would all be booked out by early November, but it seems so.

Cheers

From a fellow Aussie, I can,t imagine that accommodation is 1000 Euro per night anywhere, that is $1600 in our money! I have just returned from Germany and averaged E60. per night and stayed in lovely Hotels and Holiday apartments. Just hunt around Hotel websites and perhaps consider Youth Hostels.

Looking for accommodation during the Cebit definitely is not easy. You won't find affordable rooms in Hannover during this period.

I recommend to look further outside Hannover and commute to the city. Have a look at the following website: www.hrs.com

If you enter Hannover you'll find also 3 Hotels in the city of Bad Münder which is about 40 km southwest of Hannover. Prices for single rooms range from 78 to 88 Euros incl. breakfast.

The train from Bad Münder to the trade fair station takes about 45 minutes.

Don't hesitate any longer. I know that people sometimes commute by train from cities far away only because they can't get a room near Hannover. Good luck.

Hi Fleur,

you definately find something cheaper even trough Cebit. Many private accomodations are offered.

Just let me know if you still are looking for something...

Yours,
Bigs

Hi, Bernd

Actually I have already rented a room, in Hannover, for 30 euros a night. Thank goodness!

A friend sent me a link to a bed and breakfast website she used often when she stayed in Hannover for CeBIT

www.bedandbreakfast.de

Many good deals on this website!

Cheers

Hi, Magz

This is because Hannover is a small city and CeBIT is the world's biggest IT trade show. There are few spaces and accommodation of any kind near Hannover at this time. People actually end up staying 200km away, to attend this trade show, which attracts half a million visitors, including 10,000 journalists from all over the world.

But luckily, because I looked so far ahead, I have found reasonable home-stay accommodation. An English friend who has attended CeBIT in her work many times helped me with the right website to look.

It's not the same as when you're merely backpacking around Germany ;-) which I have done also.

Happy New Year to you :-)

Congrats, you got a real bargain. Such a price is almost impossible during the CeBIT.

And thanks for sharing the website. I didn't know it. Bed-and-breakfast isn't that common here in Germany.

Enjoy your trip to Germany
