We are arriving to Ancona and would like to go to Rome on the same day. How far a train station from airport? I assume taht tthis is a best way to get to Rome. We would like to come back to Jesi in 4 days. Is there any storage area for our heavy laggage that we not needed in Rome( suggestions)

Thanks

Questions like how to get from the airport to the train station are normally answered by the airport's website - see http://www.ancona-airport.com/doc/htm/eng/frameset_struttura_guida.asp

In this case, the solution is very easy: "Falconara Ancona Airport offers a direct railway service between CASTELFERRETTI STATION (in front of the Airport terminal) and Ancona station."

However, in this case, you will probably not need to go to Ancona. As you can imagine from the name, the airport is shared by the towns of Ancona and Falconara Marittima. If you go to www.trenitalia.com and enter "Castelferretti" for the start of the trip and "Roma" for the end of the trip, you will be given solutions that go from the airport to Rome.

All of the solutions involve a change of train, most of them at Falconara Marittima, not Ancona. Why? Because any train from Ancona to Rome probably comes through Falconara Marittima anyway, and since Falconara Marittma is closer to the airport, it makes sense not to go to Ancona.

The price will vary based on which solution you take, since in Italy, faster trains are more expensive. I will let you look at the trenitalia site and see if it makes sense to you.

I am not sure what to tell you about your luggage. According to the airport and trenitalia websites, there is no Left Luggage services at either the airport, nor at the Falconara Marittima and Ancona train stations.

Hmmmn, I see that you want to come back to Jesi. Have you considered taking the train from the airport to Jesi, dropping your heavy luggage off there at the place you are going to stay, then taking the next train from Jesi to Rome? The times are not very frequent (see trenitalia.com) but if you arrive early to the airport, take a train over to Jesi, drop the luggage off, and eat lunch, you should be able to catch a train in the early afternoon to Rome...
