| Bagan | Myanmar - Bagan Hotels Posted: Fri November 3, 2006 01:45 PM UTC
Greetings,
I tried to book a hotel in Old Bagan, but all the hotels with good recommendations in my price range - Tharabar Gate, Thiripyitsaya Sakura and Bagan Hotel are fully booked for the dates that I’ll be there; the only vacancies are at Serenity Hotel and I have no info about it. Any experience with it, anyone? Thank you, Marius |

HI Marius,
I dont know about Serenity. How about Thazin Garden Hotel or Golden Express Hotel? Not as good as the hotels you mentioned above but a few of our guests used to stay long stay at those hotels. I think price range around USD 40 or 45. Let me also check at Tharabar Gate and Bagan Hotel again. Sometimes there're a few reserved rooms left. Jules

Hi Jules,
Thank you for your answer. It seems that indeed nobody's heard about Serenity at Bagan. I think that I will change the dates, so I could stay at the better hotels. Cheers, Marius

Thazin Garden is in New Bagan. I think it's in the $40-60 range. Also in New Bagan is the NK Beetlenut Hotel. It's only $15 per night and a great bargain. Huge rooms, comfortable beds, AC, hot water, fast laundry service. The only bad thing is the TV service is poor. New Bagan is a nice area. Not many people stay here and it's very quiet and friendly.

Had the same problem at first with Tharabar Gate - but got a reservation 3-4 days later via some kind of waiting list.
Rooms at certain hotels are often reserved by overseas tour operators who place reservations for a maximum number of possible tour participants. If they don't reconfirm approx. 1 month prior, the rooms are available for booking again. Since that maximum is usually not reached, it's more likely than not that you can get a room even though they're 'initially fully booked. Good luck

Thank you, nyxxx, this seems to be indeed a good trick. I also made the reservation at Serenity and registered for Tharabar and Thiripyitsaya waiting lists. It puzzles me why I can not find and reviews of this Serenity Hotel, thogh it is offered by almost all major Myanmar travel agents.

Hi!
We had a good time at Thande Hotel in OLD Bagan. It is facing the river and there are several pagodas around the hotel :-) Note: There is also Thande Hotel in New Bagan. But I don't know about it. Hope this helps Ayurin, Osaka japan
