Probably 3 1/2 hours from Delhi to Agra by car, depending on traffic too. I took express train (# 2002 Bhopal-Shtbdi)from New Delhi Station (NDLS) at 06:15am, arrived at Agra (AGC) at 08.07am.
It's supper fast train. Coming back to Delhi by train #2001 Express, leaving Agra at 20:30pm, arrived in Delhi at 23:30pm. Also there is another train Pubjab Mail # 2137, leaving Agra at 17:00pm, arrive Delhi at 20:25pm. You could book the ticket All these trains by website at: www.irctc.co.in When you get into Agra just take a taxi or tuk-took to sightseeing surrounding the areas. One day is enough in Agra. Also it's cheaper to go by train. REMEMBER! Taj Mahal is closed on FRIDAY. Good luck & Regards,

I was in Agra just a few weeks ago. We drove up from Bharatpur very early in the morning, and if you come down from Delhi on a day trip I'd advise the same. It's wonderful to see the sun rise on the Taj. We were looking at it by 6.15 and stayed for several hours. It's amazing how the light changes! You don't just stay for a bit, but hours! It's so impressive. From there we went to the Agra fort, which is also really nice - not least because you get great views of the Taj too. From there we went down to the river banks - again, more good views. Drove abck to Bharatpur via Fatehpur Sikri - a fabulous place. It's huge, so even if there are a lot of people, you don't notice them. (0 school boys and a huge group of Indian tourists but that ws all. Anyway, enjoy!

Will take about 3 hrs if you leave early morning. My pick would be Oberoi in terms of location and views.
Temprature in Delhi is about 25-28 degrees C

Dear Friend,
It take round off 4 hrs approx( 205 km). as justed informed by the friend in reply it also depend on the traffic, sometime. You can do Agra and fatehpur Sikri in same day by car from delhi, only you have to drive early morning from Delhi.Either u can take morning Shatabdi train also and then u can hire local car their in Agra. Fatehpur Sikri is round 40 km & take 01 hrs approx. to reach from the Agra. Temperture is 25-27 degree now adays. In Delhi Taj Mahal is better is my suggestion. it is hardly 15 min drive from Connaught Place (shoping mall). In Agra: Amar Villas is very nice property and near the Taj Mahal. You can get the Taj Mahal view from the hotel...love and smile..vivek

You have over night trip to Agra becose you return next day.So i think from Delhi on route to Agra visit Mathura Jai Gurudave temple then go to Fatehpur Sakeri turn right before Agra visit Fatehpur Sakeri. After noon visit Redfort sunset in the Taj Mahal. If posible next morning see Sunrise and on route visit Sikandra. Now the temperature is very good for the hotel depend your budget and i think Oberoi is good choice.

If you can swing for the cost of a driver/tour bus to head to Fatepur Sikri it is well worth your money. It is about 45-60 minutes by car depending on traffic which is unpredictable. It should take 3.5-4 hours from Delhi to Agra if you get a really early start. Sorry cant comment on hotels....
TWO WORDS OF CAUTION WHEN VISITING THE BEAUTIFUL MOSQUE at Fatepur Sikri. 1. DO NOT buy your flowers, cloth, or "wish come true" string (i will explain shortly) from anyone EXCEPT inside the white marble offering building. All money donated inside the white building goes to SUPPORTING the children's school, anyone else just STEALS your money. Legend has it if you tie a string on the window your wish will come true. You will have plenty of chances for "nice" tour guides to facilitate "donating" your money to a scam artist in a dark corner selling the cloth, flowers and string. 2. DO NOT take the tour from the 'nice" men willing to show you around in exchange for a tip. They are probably NOT employed by the school as they say. Use the CHILDREN as tour guides because the money will go towards the school and they are more fun. Enjoy India it is a beautiful country!

I think this is a possible day trip, but as one of the other poster says, you might be better served by spending the night in Agra. Early morning at the Taj is unforgettable...
