| Plovdiv | Plovdiv - Pamporov by train Posted: Wed November 1, 2006 11:59 AM UTC
Hi all,
From the http://www.bdz.bg/ website, it shows that the train is running from Plovdiv to Pamporovo... Can anyone please give me the route of this train? As i cannot understand why it passes through Septemvri when it is out of the way. Me and some friends should be staying in Pamporovo in December-January season and i am currently looking for transport means to go to Sofia and other places in Bulgaria apart from using buses and taxi.. Thanks, Chris |

I suspect this is not the Pamporovo are looking for. If you mean the ski resort, it is nowhere near a railway. There must be another place of the same name near Septemvri.

that's right - the only means of transportation for pamporovo is by bus or car - it's only about half an hour from plovdiv.

Hi,
there is no train connecting Plovdiv/city or airport/ with the resort Pamporovo. I hope you have transfer prebooked to your hotel. Between Plovdiv/city/ and Pamporovo there is regular bus connection you and your friends may use. And Plovdiv you can use for base for travelling around Bulgaraia/check the site again: www.bdg.bg/. This on my opinion will be the most efficent and cheap way to travel. If you have any other questions about it - go on, ask :):) Greetings from Plovdiv.

You must be thinking of the resort of Bansko - a small place up in the mountains which is reached by changing trains at Septemvri and traveling up the narrow gauge railway. It takes about 5 hours so Pamporovo will be much easier!

Hi all,
First of all really thanks for your replies.. The idea of a railway from plovdiv to pamporovo was obtained from the www.bdz.bg where it states the following: STATION ARRIVAL DEPARTURE TRAIN N: TIME FOR CHANGE PLOVDIV - 03:10 Fast8626 - SEPTEMVRI 03:57 04:10 Ord16291 0 hours 13 min PAMPOROVO 04:16 - - - DURATION: 1 час 6 мин So most probably it shows incorrect information!! Anyway, by taxi it takes one hour and a half.. by any chance is there a taxi company which we can call for best prices? We want to visit plovdiv nightlife so most probably we will be needing a taxi rather than bus, as i was told that buses operate between 6am and 7pm. Apart from Club Plazma, what other similar clubs we can visit in Plovdiv? And for new year's eve, what is the main attraction? In a partying way :) Thanks gain, Chris

hi chris,
didnt know that "plazma" is so well known in malta :):) there are few nice places hereand the music is determinant. but these are the names of some good clubs - the spot, marmalade, liquor. about the taxi from pamporovo to plovdiv - personal advice - take the bus from pamporovo to plovdiv , stay in hotel here for 1 or 2 nights instead of paying taxi from the resort to the city and when u see most of plovdiv then go back to pamporovo by bus again. about new years eve - in most of bars, restaurants, clubs there are prepaid covers but as you are here weeks before it, you will still have time to think something. hope the info was useful.regards, Antoaneta

if you need some one to assit you that speaks english and bulgarian in pamporovo try the hotel who's name sounds like orifice in english. there was a lady manager there in 2004 that was very helpful when i was there with my family. very seldom found any one at the service counters of any of the other hotels that spoke english. even the big one with the same name as the town.
if you have not decided on a hotel in pamporovo. take a look at my plovdiv page. there are some pages on pamporovo. put them there because pamporovo use to not be on the vt list of towns but plovdiv nearby was.

about the bus to and from plovdiv. there are a few very interresting little towns between the two. i would look into stopping at one spending a hour or two there and then take the next bus onward.

Hi again,
Well yes Eeriebo, i got to know about Club plazma as Pacho B was in malta this summer, he played with our DJ Ruby. We liked his music and found out that DJ Ruby also played in his club in Plovdiv. So it;s worth a visit for sure :) ... I will check about the other clubs you suggested.. I was considering about staying from 31st Dec-2nd January in Plovdiv so as to enjoy the nightlive but most of the cheap hotels are booked on the 1st January :/ .. so i guess we will have to stay in Pamporovo.. and keep travelling by bus or taxi, i know it will be a bit expensive, but we will see how we can overcome the problem ;) If you know of a taxi company which might be cheapest please let me know.. Yes Delcity in fact i am looking for other places to go during the day for the new year's day.. if you can suggest me some places i will be grateful :) Thanks again, Chris

as for other towns to visit . pamporovo is not really a " complete town " there was no school building there when i was there. less than 100 people live there year around i bet. in fact it might be a low as 50.
people that work at the hotels and the few shops live in nearby towns or rent rooms by the month in the 1star hotels. there was talk of putting in a lift from another town that is a complete town where there would be as many or more people living there as the number that come to stay in the hand full of hotels they have. the lift would go to a place on the mountain where you could change over to one or more of the older lifts on the ski mountain near pamporovo. you can check at ( www.mybulgaria.info ) someone there may be able to give you first hand knowledge about some nice towns near pamporovo and about a new lift from a town near the mountain that goes to a place where you can change over.
