It's never cold, but yes it's still raining on and off, so you will need a brolly and flip flops for the puddles. We have been in the sea most of the day today and it's been really hot. You will be on the first charter flight and everywhere is getting sprused up. No where really shuts. They are even busing in more beggers and fruit ladies. You will get the sun even when its cloudy.

I read this with interest we are due to fly from Leeds via London etc on the 4th November, as yet without accommodation hope to find it on arrival. Keep looking at the weather and thinking and wishing as normal we were going north!!
Any recommendations for accommodation please?? We have our eye on the Neelakanta as our first port of call when we arrive.

Thanks for any advise in advance!

The hotel you mention is having an extra floor built at the moment, as it's early there should be plenty of rooms around, when we arrived in August we got a room(with bathroom) on the beach front from Palm Beach Restarunt, there are a few hotels off the beach front that have swimming pools if you dont mind not having a sea view, but we havent stayed in any of them so I couldnt say what they are like. Have a great time.

You say having another floor built at the Neelakanta, would this put you off staying there?? As we do not have accommodation booked would you recommend another beach facing hotel with views to the sea? What cost per night on average do we expect to pay. Also please please tell us the weather, all forecasts show rain & cloud, how bad is this rain please? Is the sun out at all?

Thanks for previous response and for any future…

I dont think the extra floor would put me off as most of the major work has been done now and you would only really be there for sleeping. I couldnt say about the prices as I know they go up for the season, you would need to look for Kovalam Hotels on your search, there is Sea Face (with swimming pool) Sea Rock (without). What time will your flight get in? The weather is changeable, we have had light drissle this morning, but with the sun shinning (hubby has just gone off for a swim), if you are not coming with a package why wait for the season to start and the prices double? and thats not just the hotel prices its the shop prices aswell.

We arrive in TRV at 8:15am on the 5th Nov. We like to take our holidays in the UK winter and get the best from the weather abroad, hence our holiday in season.
It’s a shame they put the prices up for tourist season but from past experience India is still good value for money when holidaying.

We will try the Neelakanta on arrival if not we have the Sea Face on our list.

At least arriving at that time you can have a look around, There are 3 new hotels towards the other end of the beach but I dont know if they are ready yet and one is a Thomas Cook. The Sea Face would be my choice out of the two, you will pass it first along the front, but as you will have to carry/drag your suit cases along the beach front (sea face has road access)it would be better to decide first. As for the prices going up, the money people make has to last all year, but still it's cheap enough and the restarunts dont put their prices up and havent for years looking at the state of the menu's LOL
no real sun out today and hubby has still come back from the beach RED.....we've been here 3months.
