I am a student in human geography from the Netherlands. I just started a research project on township tourism in South Africa. My research centres on the questions: Why are tourists interested in township tours and can townships create tourism attractions? What are the images tourists have of a township?

I visited Soweto during my trip to South Africa and Lesotho in November 2002. It was an optional visit, I didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised and the people I met there were extremely friendly.
I'm from the UK, I'm not sure I have received any kind of education! Well OK .. college and that's it really. I am 40 yrs old and male.
