Hello,

A good place to check timing is http://www.tcdd.gov.tr/tcdding/ortadogu_ing.htm, the webpage of Turkish State Railways. The price Istanbul-Damascus is 52 Swiss Francs (1st class), payable in Turkish lira if the ticket is bought in Turkey. Add another 36 CHF to that price for a single couchette berth.

Have a nice trip,

George

Actually, most of the time the train is not very full, I would just "risk" and buy a double compartment rather a sinlgle, it's much less.

A good side is here with the picture of the sleeper (it's a full-service sleeper, not a couchette):

An interesting info: newly there is a dining car on the "Toros Expresi" till Meydanekbez, but don't count on it.
