| State of Sikkim | Trekking Tour Operator Posted: Mon October 30, 2006 06:14 AM UTC
Dear travellers,
Am looking for trekking information in Sikkim. Would appreciate if you can recommend some of the reputable trekking agents there. The trek that I'm interested in is Goechala Trek. Thanks. Regards, Lee |

Lee ,
Info on sikkim is hard to come by. It's just that a freind of mine is looking to go that part of India that I went to the Sikkim tourism office & delhi. They recommend the below agent , Brother's tour & travels , which is a Sikkim / Gangtok based travel agency. Their phone numbers are 0091 3592 204220 , 0091 9832092219(hand phone) and email is info@brothershorizons.com You can check on the Goechala trek with them. Their other office email is brothers@cal2.vsnl.net.in Do check out as you may need special permits to trek in that area. How are you travelling/ What's your entry point in India and how do you plan to go to Sikkim. thanks & best wishes, Anjan

I would suggest that you do not fix up any trekking tour op from the net right away. reason 1 - rates and credibility
reason 2 - weather and landslides can stop a trek. If you are going via Gangtok, enquire at the bigger Hotels ( Tashi Delek, Tibet, etc.) for a good T.O. You also have the opp. of going to the tourism office. If you are giving capital Gantok a miss enquire about Help Tourism in Siliguri.mailto:helptourism@satyam.net.in. cell : 098320 66626, 094340 46891 Tel : 91-353-2535893 However, do bargain and seek photo evidence if in doubt. If you are going via Kolkata, get in touch with me at +91 98300 62091

Well maybe I am a little to late for answering your question, but my suggestion to you is to kindly log on to www.taasindia.com which is the offical website of the Travel Agents Association of Sikkim. You could write to them for any suggestions or quries related to your visit to Sikkim.
All the best.
