| Mackay | Where to live? Posted: Sun October 29, 2006 03:10 AM UTC
Hi, I am in a dilemma as to where to live Mackay or Maryborough? Probably base my decision on a good public primary school big in sports and recreation. Also would like to live near a water inlet for my keen fisherman. Most likely an outer suburb as i have 2 cattle dogs and use to living on the land. If anyone can help would love to hear from you.

I live in Mackay and if this is any help to you I have to warn you that house prices here are through the roof.
Mackay is now Queensland's second fastest growing town. The Gold Coast is number one. Even if you don't buy, renting here is a nightmare. If you do get a house or unit you will pay through the roof for it. The newspaper is full of stories of people living in tents, cars and shipping containers! The reason is that more mines have sprung up nearby and they pay big dollars. Thousands have flocked here to work at the mines and the town is bulging at the seames. Hope this helps...it is still a great place to live though!
