Zermatt Self catering in Zermatt

Although we stayed in a very nice hotel(Alpen Resort) in Zermatt in June this year we thought we would rent an apartment next June.Any ideas? It must be central, not too many stairs, not too noisy and good quality accomodation.

Hello June,

First a question: does it have to be Zermatt? Zermatt is expensive and does not have too many family flats.
Then my proposal: REKA, originally a sicoal non-profit association to enable families to have a well-merited and reasonably-priced holiday in the mountains. Today it has become more of a normal travel office with arrangements not only in Switzerland, but also in Mediterranean countries. One thing that has not changed, it still caters mainly for Swiss customers, so the website is in Swiss languages only: German, French and Italian. But it is still worth a look at this site, because the flats and resorts are of excellent quality, inspected and at very reasonable cost.
Thie site: http://www.reka.ch/f/startseite.asp
If you need any help, please let me know.
Good luck, Richard

Thanks Richie but yes it does have to be Zermatt. We are not looking for very cheap as our stay for 5 nights at The Alpen Resort Hotel this year cost about £600.We just thought we could stay a few days longer if we rented an apartment. We are just a couple(over 60) no children.

Yes I am English and my husband is Scottish. We actually returned to Alpen Resort Hotel in 2007 because we knew we would be comfortable there. We are still deciding what to do this year.It is very tempting to go back to Zermatt as we love it but think we may go to Interlaken. We want to keep it simple because of health problems.Last year we went from Zurich to St Moritz then Glacier Express to Zermatt. We had a day in Geneva on the way home.
