I AM GOING TO PUERTO DEL CARMEN WITH 2 KIDS AGED 7 & 9 , THEY ARE DEATHLY AFRAID OF COCKROACHES , ETC. IM NOT SAYING THERE ARE ANY! BUT AM WONDERING IF THERE ARE AS I KNOW THEIR HOLIDAY WOULD BE RUINED, THANKS IN ADVANCE, MOLL

I`m sorry if I ruin your holiday trip, but there really are some cockroaches in Spain/Lanzarote. I saw one, that was about 2 inc. tall. The other thing is, are they dangerous or not. They aren`t! If you stomp your feef a bit, the cockroaches run away quickly.
BUT...if you don`t let those little bugs disturb yourself, your children loot up to you and they forget their fear.

Yes, they do have cockroaches, sorry they live in the Lava rock.

if you are worried about cockroaches in your room then always leave the bathroom light on at night [they usually come out in the dark]

If kids of these ages will have "their vacation ruined" if there are any bugs, I would say the problem is quite serious. Honestly, if their fears are so extreme I'll be quite worried as it looks like a phobia.
If it's just a case of "dislike", it could be a great opportunity for them to learn these bugs are not so terrible.
By the way, having been to Canary Islands many times, I don't remember seeing many bugs, One now and them, that's all. I've seem far more cockroaches in NYC, for instance.

yes there are cockroaches in del carmen, but i usually find they are out more inf orce when its really hot, not so much at this time of year. del carmen is great, lots to do, go along to the harbour area at night, it is good,the kids will have a great time
