| Leipzig | Best Western's Premier Victor´s Residenz-Hotel Leipzig Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 03:32 AM UTC
I am going to be visiting Leipzig in a couple of weeks. I'm currently booked at The Furstenhof but recently stumbled on Victor´s Residenz-Hotel Leipzig on another website. There were only three reviews and the one offering "candid shots" used photos directly from the hotel's website. The location sounded a bit more convenient but I haven't been able to find out much about the hotel. Is it a luxury property? Has anyone seen it or stayed there? Any feedback would be appreciated. I wouldn't want to make a mistake to cut six minutes off of a walk!

I have never stayed there but both hotels are within a three minutes walk from the city centre. Victor´s Residenz-Hotel is closer to the train station, if you arrive by train (3min walk). Both have excellent connection to public transport.
Fuerstenhof got five stars, Victor´s Residenz-Hotel four stars - that's the only difference. Chris

Thanks Chris. I take it that I shouldn't let location be a deciding factor. Is most of the shopping (major department stores and so on) also nearby?

all department stores, souvenir shops etc are located in the centre and in the Central Station. The centre of Leipzig is not as big as those of other cities. All stores are within walking distance no matter what hotel you take.
Enjoy your stay! Chris

Thanks Chris. I just got off the phone with Premier Victor's Residenz. I am going to stay with The Furstenhof. I've heard nothing but good things about it and the rooms are twice the size -- jr. suites are 60 square metres vs 37 square metres -- and it's not that much more expensive. Thank you again for your help.

Chris, I gather that it is also a fairly easy (and safe at night) walk to the
Gewandhaus concert hall? Yes? Thanks for all your help. Lizie-

yes, it is. Most parts of the center are under video surveillance. You can take the tram to Augustusplatz (two stations) or you also can walk (15 - 20 min). Do not miss to go to "Drallewatsch" after the concert. This is the famous bar district.
