I'm planning to visit Urumqi, Turban and Kanas Lake.

Is Kanas Lake closed in November?

How is the weather like in these places?

Firstly, news has it that Kanas resort will be open during the winter season. Secondly, the weather at the moment is unseasonably warm (mid teens). Kanas will be cold so bring warm clothing. Turpan is still about 25 degrees. I expect the temperature to drop soon and when it drops i doubt it'll get warm again till next April. It all depends on when you're planning your trip in November (early or late). Tian Chi (Heaven Lake) will not be frozen over just yet but it is nice there during the winter and well worth going as it's much cheaper off season. A night in a yurt will cost 40 RMB and thse have pot bellied stoves and plenty of blankets so you won't get cold.

Thanks everyone. I have figured that the scenery is probably nicer for me in warmer weahter, coz I personally prefer looking at green/yellow/golden trees in summer/autumn than ice and masses of white snow.

But thanks for your comments. I am definitely planning to go next year. The pictures I saw of Kanas Lake is just so amazing.
