Cork South African with a few q's
Posted: Mon October 23, 2006 10:06 AM UTC
Hi all

I'm South African and just got a job at University College of Cork (UCC). I have a few questions that you helpful guys could perhaps help me out with :)

1. What is the average cost of living (food, etc) in Cork / month?
2. How much is a Big Mac Meal (this is a useful indicator)
3. How good is the public transport system ie. will I be able to get from basically anywhere around Cork City to UCC every day without massive walks?
4. What is the cost of a second hand oldish car (eg. 1995 - 2000 VW Golf / Ford Escort - not sure what cars are cheap/popular there?)

Thanks!

1. you could rent a room for 80 euro a week and spend about 60 a week on food
2. about 6 euro.
3. plenty of public transport. it goes from anywhere to everywhere but is not always on time!
4. i drive a 97 vw golf that i picked up cheap for 2200. expect to pay anywhere from 1000 up depending on the make and model, year, milage, service history, etc...
