Is it possible to but decent footwear i.e quality sandles in bangkok?I`m thinking of bringing just a backpack and buying and filling a suitcase for on the way home? What is the minimal clothing I should bring with me?Are there any times unobtainable in bangkok?

it depends on how long you gonna stay in Bangkok. Anyway, just walk into the shopping mall and you can get all what you want. i think you had better go to Chit Lom (Chit Lom Central shopping arcade)then Siam because Siam is more expensive.

The only problem you may have is if you have big feet. Thais are generally speaking small when compared to "westerners" so getting larger sized footware and clothes is not that easy.

Since Thailand is a tourist country, i don't think it will be that difficult to get clothes.

one outlet very close to BTS Victory Monument station, take exit 2 and the shop is at the corner of RANG NAM ROAD. it opens by noon, and i saw many big size clothes but don't know if that is the style you like.
for shoes...hmmm... you are right, but i still think there is one or two shops can meet what you need. if so, better try on Siam area, there are about 3 big shopping Mall selling interntional brands.

good luck ;)

There are stores where you can have shoes custom made, just like in a tailor shop. I had some made last year - and wore them for the duration of the holiday and beyond. However, I would recommend that things like shoes are so important to comfort and moveability on a holiday, that you take something from home. You can always get something made as well - and not talking about a huge amount of weight or bulk. Feet comfort is incredibly important to a holiday.
