I will be working at the University for a month in April and want to be walking distance from the University. Any suggestions?

Since you'll be working at the university, ask them what the on-campus housing facilities are. Most, if not all universities in China have at least 1 option (guesthouse/budget hotel) which targets mainly the university's visitors and etc.
