Grand Canyon Best spot to pop the question?!
Posted: Fri October 20, 2006 08:21 AM UTC
My girlfriend and I are heading to GC with some of her family members and I will be asking her to marry me on this trip. I haven't been to the area since I was 8 (20 years ago). Can people recommend a good spot to pop the question with a scenic background? I'm a photographer and I'd like to capture the moment with a nice backdrop.
Thanks for your help,
Ryan in Las Vegas

How about Eagle Point on the West Rim? You could use words along the lines of wanting a life which will soar like an eagle and will she be the right wing to your left????

Uhm, if you are asking the question, you will not be behind the camera. if you are, it is business and unromantic. "Popping" is not planned. Wait untill you are in an intimate, not sexual, moment and drop to your knee. Be the first off the bus and hold up the crowd, jump infront of everyones view of the canyon and do it. It really doesn't matter where or when so long as it is from the heart

If at the South Rim, I would gather everyone at the veranda of the restaurant at El Tovar Hotel. El Tovar is a very pretty and historical landmark at the GC. Then as drinks come and go, I would find an excuse to walk over to the rim, about 30 yards or so from the restaurant, and voila!

Good luck.

Cheers.

If it were me, I would go down the South Kaibab trail. It's not as crowded as the Bright Angel and if you go past Cedar Ridge (2 miles down), there's not many people at all.

You'll have the best views of the Canyon, which you will like since you are a photographer. DON'T LOSE THE RING!

Just kidding. Please see my Grand Canyon page for more info on the South Kaibab trial. Or e-mail me and I can send you some additional pictures of what I am trying to describe.

Have fun and good luck!

Mike
