Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Bangkok Gift from Europe/where to buy jewellery
Posted: Thu October 19, 2006 09:39 PM UTC
Two questions:
1) For European expats living in BKK who might frequent this forum: I need to bring a gift for some French friends, a couple and their 11 year old son. Is there anything from Europe that is difficult to get over there? I was thinking perhaps recent DVDs in French but possibly pirate versions are out earlier over there than here!
2) Any advice on reputable places to purchase jewellery/warning about where not to? Not interested in unset stones, I like local workmanship.

French wine is very expensive in Thailand because of the tax levied on it so a couple of good bottles of Claret or Montrachet could be a good idea.

John

My froggy colleague makes a trip to France once a year and stocks up on pate foie gras, cheese, meats and of course wine. The I go round to his place to eat it all. You can get some of the stuff here, but the range is ordinary. French sweets? Gotta be a hit. The Alliance Francaise has French videos and dvds here in Bangkok and you can get French dvds in MBK and such.
By jewellery you mean gold/silver or stones or both?
