I am going to Vienna in a couple of days time. I could not get any tickets. I put my name down for advance ticket with my credit card details but I have not heard anything from the State Opera. So I am trying to get standing room tickets to Rigoletto on the 21st. How many standing room tickets are there? If I turn up 90 minutes before the performance, what are my chances of getting the tickets? Can 1 person queue up for 2 tickets? Having missed out Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra when they were visiting my country a week ago, I surely don't want to miss the State Opera. In my country, there are only 10 standing room tickets at the Opera House.

There are 567 standing places in the Viennese opera house. Tickets are sold ONLY on the evening of the performance. The cashier opens usually 2 hours before beginning. Normally the chances are very good, of course it depends on the performance and the singers. Sometimes, if it is really somebody very special, people queue uo for 1 day or so - but this is very very seldom. Just find out when it starts and go there 2 hours before. Good luck! Silvia

I am so pleased to hear about that. The performance starts at 7 pm. I arrive Vienna at 6 in the morning. That will give me some time to rest and sightseeing before queuing up at 5pm. I am so looking forward to it.
