I'll be heading to Iquitos Nov. 9 or 10, from Lima, staying about a week, and then taking a boat as far west as I can and bussing it to Piura/Mancora. I'm 28, male, solo...any advice helpful too.

not much nightlife if that's what your looking for. See my tips, lol.
Are you staying in Iquitos for a week? Way too long for that city. Go do the amazon lodges instead. Can't help about the boat trip West, but you should have a blast. It will be rainy season there and thats good since I just got back and the water level is really low.
