Hi, I am a college student and was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to travel alone through Bhutan once acquiring the visa, or if you must be accompanied by a tour guide. Also, does anyone know the visa cost, and whether or not it is safe to travel alone as a woman? Thanks for your help,

hiya, as far as i know. you will need to hire a tour guide for your visit to bhutan. they quote in US dollars apparently and only a limited number of people are allowed to visit bhutan each year. you best find any other vters who are planning on visiting bhutan the same time and split the cost. theres hardly anyone in bhutan, so you should feel quite safe as a woman. lol.

Yes, you always have to take a package with tour guide and so on plus you have to pay a surcharge as a single traveler....as long as you are not invited by the government, working in Bhutan for help organizations and so on.
As far as my exerience goes, I would say Bhutan is very safe! Happy travels, Chris

hi there,
yes, as above said, You cant travel on Your own. But You sure can do parts of Your trip allone. But You have to hire a guide and a driver. The costs are about 200 US $ a day, it depends on the season. This includes everything: hotel, meals, guide, car, entrance fee ... And yes, it is very safe to go allone. have fun Gar
