Indeed. I think what you want to now is whether it's even halfway safe. Because if it was worth visiting it'll still be worth visiting. I'm planning a long bout ot out-of-this-damp-dark-country, & have been researching Yemen & Ethiopia
(neatly straddling Somaia). Yesterday I read that the Islamist front had declared jihad against Ethiopia, I'm not particularly timid (I spend a fair bit of time reassuring friends that most muslim countries are generally col n safe) but somalia loks way too oompty for me! Still, it's your ass at risk! I think the fco website (www.fco.gov.uk) advises against ALL travel to Somalia at the moment.

Incidentally, what's the difference between Smalia & somaliland?
