I will be three days in Eindhoven next November and I would like to know which daytrips I could do during I am there.
Also, who could tell me which is the best/cheapest way of going from Amsterdam to Eindhoven?? is it train or bus? Thanks!! |

Definitely visit Maastricht if you're into culture and old cities.
I'm not even sure if you can go to Amsterdam by bus, but if you can it's probably a long journey and I doubt if it is much cheaper. A train ticket (2nd class, both ways) costs 28,60 but the trip takes less than 90 minutes.

Other cities, easy acessible by train, are Den Bosch, Breda and Roermond (see for Roermond a tip with pics on my Netherlands page).

Thanks, Olafs!!
Great news about the 28e train. I will ask about this service as soon as I get to Amsterdam. Should I take a bus to go to Maastricht, or is it reachable by simply by foot? I want to collect as much information as I can before my travel; I am afraid it won't be easy get information for people speaking Duth :) Val

Hi,
From Einhoven to Amsterdam take the train it wil be 1,5 hour to reach Amsterdam. From Einhoven to Maastricht takes about 1 hour by train. check : www.ns.nl (also in english) If you dont drive a car the trains are the best way to visit those cities, busses dont drive that long distances (or to many transfers) Other places you can visit are Gouda ( famous of his Cheese) Den Haag, Madurodam, Volendam... ( just Google them or look them up at VT ) Just visit the touristoffices ( VVV Kantoor ) Have fun in the Netherlands

My pleasure. No, you won't get anywhere by foot, at least no interesting places. But the train will get you to many interesting cities. There are direct connenctions with The Hague, Breda, Den Bosch, Maastricht, Utrecht and many more. Eindhoven itself may make you want to scream to go elsewhere (actually it isn't that bad, it's just ugly and boring). Busses are OK for short distances only. There are a few nice places nearby.
Don't worry about not speaking Dutch, you'll get by with English.
