- The ticket is pictured on my home page with cost analysys, explanation, etc.
- Currently there are two trains weekly. One is the train No. 4 (Chinese) from Moscow, the other is No. 24 Chinese/Mongolian (alternating).

- No.4 will depart UlaanBaatar every Sunday at 08:05 and arrive Beijing at 14:31 Monday.
- No. 24 will depart Ulaan Baatar every Thursday and arrive Beijing Friday, the schedule is the same.
- No. 24 with Chinese cars departs U-B on Friday, arrives Beijing Saturday. <- not sure this service is in shoulder season.

Please note, there is a daily train from Irkutsk (depart 15:10) to U-B (arrives 7:00) and also a train from U-B to Hohhot in China on Friday and Monday, departing U-B 20:30, arriving Hohhot Saturday and Tuesday 20:49.

Besides, there is a daily train from UB to the border station of Zamyn Ude. The price is well under $10, so you will save a lot in Mongolia if you take the train till the border and board the "international" train only as it arrives. The Mongolian domestic service is OK.

Hello Tsetsegee,

On the ticket you see on my home page the price (2005) is:

- 42000 Tögrög for Bilet-Kupon or 57.41 CHF
- 19600 Tögrög for Platskart (sleeper supplement) or 26.78 CHF
- 4600 Tögrög komission of UB Tömör Dzaam (UB railway agency)

Total: 61600 (they made a mistake and miscalculated 50 Tögrög) + 4600 = 66600 Tögrög, but the bill was for 66650 Tögrög, perhaps because "666" is a very bad number for the West, so they added 50 Tögrög :-)

It's interesting than basically noting changed, only small Pennies (due currency exchange fluctuations).

Please read my home page - if you need some help with tickets to Europe and within Europe, pls. contact me. As you see, it's possible to buy a round-trip Bilet-Kupon from SuheBatar(Border) to Bratislava (Slovakia) for 100 Euro, but not in Mongolia.

...I am still thinking, 66650 Tögrög was by purpose and if so, it's amazing that UB railway agency new it. The tickets were prepared for somebody I know ahead of time, he just picked them up as he arrived in UB. The value of "cheat" (=50 Tögrög) is about 4 Cent(!!!) US, basically nothing.

But if without it, some people in Europe and perhaps most Americans won't even touch a ticket for 66600 Tögrög. The number "666" is considered to be an "evil" number or "number of Satan". Historically, it is associated with Roman Emperor Nero (of course it was written differently that time because it was no number '6' as we know today, but the value was 666). Indeed, Nero was very evil man.
