| Nassau | Hotel Choice Posted: Tue October 10, 2006 09:05 AM UTC
I'll be going to Nassau for 3 nights at the end of October for a local wedding. I've narrowed the hotel search to the Best Western, Comfort Suites, Radisson Cable Beach, Wyndham and Nassau Beach Hotel. The friend who's getting married has said that Cable beach is getting a bit far from her home and the other festivities, and so has recommended Paradise Island as it's a bit closer. That being said, the hotels on Cable beach are a bit cheaper so I was thinking it might balance out if it's a nicer place to stay. We don't want an all inclusive as we don't like being "trapped" in one place. I understand Paradise Island is walking distance from downtown. The Best Western seems like a good deal as it's a suite for less than some of the other rooms, and has a kitchenette-we can save on meals (everyone says how expensive the food is), even though it's a 10 minute walk from the beach. It's quite a bit cheaper than the Comfort Suites. We'll be 3 to a room, so the extra space is always nice. Any comments would be appreciated. Any "must sees" that aren't obvious? Not interested in Atlantis. Thanks.

A taxi from Cable Beach to Paradise is close to $20 (and entrance fee of $1 for the toll bridge).
You can walk from downtown to Paradise Island, but taking a water taxi is easier (and saver). PJ

Just because you stay at an AI resort, you are not trapped inside the gates. Get out and explore the island. Restaurants in the Bahamas are VERY expensive even for a small breakfast. It's worth the money to stay at an AI. I have stayed at the Radisson and it's a very nice hotel, great food.
