Does anyone know whether we could tour both JiuXiang caves and Stone forest in 1 day? We're thinking of hiring a cab (Rmb200-250??) to take us there and back?

It takes about 2 hours to get from Kunming to the Stone Forest, then about the entire morning to sightsee there. I was there from about 0730 to 1330. It should be possible to do both in 1 day. Do you speak Chinese?

1 day tour to stone forest and jiuxiang from/back kunming by hiring a cab, i am afaid it will cost you about 400-500.

Thanks for the reply. Yes..I do speak chinese although I must say...I'm a little rusty! So, you are suggesting that I go to Stone Forest first then to Jiu Xiang? Or should I go the other way round? Which is a better plan? Someone else replied and said that a cab would cost me $400-500. Any chance of rm 300?

stone forest first,then jiuxiang. round trip is about 250 km.
for hiring a shabby mini van, may cost you rmb 300; for a cab, at least rmb 400; as you can be recognized as a foreigner, they might ask for more.
remember, you must comfirm with the driver that you go/back via highway, and the payment includes the toll for highway(rmb 35 one way).

Sorry, no idea if it'd be better doing either first over the other. I only went to the Stone Forest.

It is best first to go to the Stone Forest, because after 09:00 AM , it is become VERY busy (every day and special on holidays)

I when i say Busy i mean really busy...
There a lot of small paths, and sometimes you have to wait 15 minutes to pass...
