Hi there, We are going to the Whitsundays in Dec 06, and looking for a boat trip for 2 -3 nights suitable for a family with a child aged 9. Obviously trying to avoid booze cruise etc. Does anyone have any recomendations?

Most of the boats that head out for 2 or 3 nights are geared towards backpackers and young people. They are usually allowed to take plenty of booze but I am pretty sure that the staff keep a good eye out to make sure people don't get too drunk because of the safety consequences. You could always hire a boat yourselves and cruise to whereever you like. Check out www.seastarcruising.com.au great boat, very easy to operate and no boat licence required. If you would like any more information email me. We were just up there and it was fantastic. Make sure you visit Mantra Ray Bay, Whitehaven Beach and we were pretty impressed with Daydream Island.

I did a 2 night trip with Next sailing adventures. I really enjoyed it, it was well organised. They did take booze on the boat, but we didn't drink until after dinner, so people didn't get drunk during day time. The crowd was pretty young (20-30), but it wasn't a booze cruise at all. We went to bed pretty early because we were tired from sailing all day...

Thanks for your info, very helpful. We have decided to go with sea star cruising, who seem to be very helpful and flexible.
Really excited about going now, I just cant wait!!

DON'T GO WITH SEA STAR!!!! THEY ARE THE WORST CRUSING COMPANY WE HAVE DEALT WITH. JUST GOT BACK FROM THERE.... GO WITH SUNSAIL OR WHITSUNDAY ESCAPE OR CUMBERLAND YACHT CHARTERS SPEND THE MONEY PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE. THEY WILL GET YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS AND DEDUCT MONEY, THEIR FACILITIES ON THE BOAT IS DIRTY, DON'T WORK, WE HAD ONE BATHROOM NOT WORKING FOR 8 DAYS OF THE CHARTER!
