Yes, unless you are planning on going during stinger season, then your boat crew will advise you when and where to wear the suit. But I think you're safe for another couple of months before stinger season starts again.

I beg to differ from previous poster. No one can guarantee absolute safety in the water. It only takes one stone fish, one shark, one cone shell, one broken glass beer bottle to cause you an injury. It is unlikely but it can happen & you should be aware of that!!!
Re stingers: Box jellyfish have been responsible for more than 60 deaths in Australia. They are present in northern waters from October until May. There have been reports of box jellyfish as far south as Agnes Water, which is just north of Bundaberg. http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/nature_conservation/wildlife/native_animals/living_with_wildlife/marine_stingers/
perhaps I'm over cautious? de pedro

Pedro is right that you have to be careful but you also have to live. He is also correct that something happening is very unlikely. We were at Whitehaven a few days ago and it was absolutely beautiful. Crystal clear water with a few turtles for company and lovely sand. Wearing a stinger suit is a good idea from about now till March. They not only provide protection from marine stings but also sun protection and a bit of buoyancy.
