Hi,

If you have a chance to spend a day in le Vieil Annecy, I definately recommend it. There is something for everyone. The old part of town is one of the most charming I have ever seen with tons of restaurants, boutiques, cafes... You can also stroll along the waterfront, where there is a park with nice trees and a great view with the mountains. You can also rent bikes, there is a trail along the waterfront. If shopping is more your style, there is a very nice "modern" shopping mall (you can ask the Tourist Office for the location) and a very long pedestrian street with loads of nice boutiques, restaurants, churches etc.... The old prison is something to see from the outside, with water canals around it.... I've brought many friends and family members there, and everyone has fallen in love with this town.

thanks a lot lynne. we've decided to definitely spend a day there.
i'm not much of a shopper (especially while on vacation) but the rest of the aspects of the town sound amazing.
thanks again.

p.s. could you suggest anywhere in town that has good vegetarian food at a reasonable price? vegan would be best, but i realize that won't be very easy outside of the major centres in europe.

Hope this gets to you on time. Regarding vegetarian food...there are tons of restaurants which offer a menu with vegetarian options. Veggie pizzas and pasta, creperies with non-meat options. Most of the restaurants usually post their menus outside so you can pick and choose without already being seated.

Enjoy!
