| Trabzon Ili | Bus from Istanbul Posted: Sun July 13, 2003 01:46 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm planning a tour in Turkey and Georgia in september. I was wondering if anyone of you knows how long is the (night?) bus ride from Istanbul to Trabzon. How often does the bus leave and at what times and what is the fare. I'd really apreciate a response. Thanx. |

Thank you for your quick reply.
I want to start with Georgia and stop in different places in Turkey on the way back. Where do I find these busses to Trabzon? Can I just buy the ticket on board?

It takes ~17 hrs to get Trabzon from Istanbul. They generally leave at about 7:00 - 8:00 pm from Esenler bus station.
BTW you might like to visit Rize, Giresun and Artvin....These cities are also great.... as far as I heard. Especially, staying in the plateau houses. Regards, Aslihan

It approximately takes 18 hours to arrive to Trabzon from Istanbul. I've had those buses for Trabzon for many times. I suggest you to take it at 22:00 or 23:00 o'clock... You'll have ur trip at nite until you arrive to Corum and then the view is becoming poeticly beautiful. Especially after Samsun hairpin bends are starting on the green hills and you feel almost like flying on the sea whilst watching those marvellous inlets... 8-)
In Trabzon I can suggest you to visit Sumela Monastry, Kiosk of Ataturk (builder of Turkish republic, our national hero), Uzungol Plateo (you can have delicious trouts there) and in Rize there is Ayder Plateo again on Kackar mountains... You can find small tours to these places in the center of Trabzon. And the city center also is worth to spend a day! Now I need to go to Trabzon, too! You made me remind all those beauties! >8) Hope it was helpfull.. Have a nice trip! Asli
