I told a co-worker I will be visiting Leuven (Louvain) and she said that Fr. Damien is buried in a crypt there. She asked me to see if I could visit there, but I don't know where it is in relation to the Grote Markt. I Googled him and found a reference to Congregation of the Sacred Heart. Can someone tell me where I can find Fr. Damien's resting place, and how to get there?

Father Damien is buried in the "Saint-Antonius Church" in Leuven. The square is called "Pater Damiaan plein". This is about 5-10 minuses walk from the Grote Markt to the west. If you interested, you can also visit the house where Fr. Damian was born in Tremelo. It is now a musuem dedicated to Fr. Damian. Tremelo is situated 20 km from Leuven.

I will not be bringing a laptop with me, but thanks for the offer. I may be able to find the film here when I return. I am familiar with his life story and am a great admirer. In my research I see that he was voted by Belgians as their greatest citizen.

Small correction
he was the Flemish voted one as there was simultaneously a Wallonian voting event with another outcome :)
