Karlsruhe Bench on Kaiserstrasse with a stone on it
Posted: Thu October 5, 2006 11:50 PM UTC
When I was in Karlsruhe, I saw a bench with a stone mounted on the middle of it. I think it was on the Kaiserstrasse or somewhere near the univerity and the Marketplaz. I am searching for a photo of that bench. The significance of the bench is that my wife was adopted from Karlsruhe by Americans stationed in Orleans in the Air Force. Her mother used to tease her that she was found under a rock in the Black Forest. When we came across the bench, I told her that she was a local celebrity and that was "her rock". Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the bench, and now we regret it. The anniversary of her adoption is coming up and I would like to surprise her with a picture of the bench.

Never seen it. But I'm not that often in Karlsruhe.

I hope you found the bench for your wife. I too was adopted from Karlruhe by Americans in the military. I am celebrating my 40th birthday this year and would like to locate information about my adoption and biological mother in Karlsruhe. I am totally clueless about where to begin my search. I was wondering if your wife had traced her adoption and if you or she might have any advice for me.

Thanks.

Ronny

I saw this posting today and wondered if your wife found her birth family or if she was able to get any information on her birth mother. My friend was born in Karlsruhe in 1960 , placed in an orphanage and also adopted into a military family.

Any suggestions would be so welcome.
