Malmö December visit
Posted: Wed October 4, 2006 07:33 PM UTC
I've just booked the flights to Kastrup and 3 of us intend spending the week in Malmo with a quick trip over to Copenhagen for the Celtic match on Wed 6th. We're leaning towards staying in the Accome Mozetti, anyone have any comments on this hotel chain?

Accome is more of a "home away from home" chain for business people staying long and wanting to welcome guests and have their own kitchen facilities etc. so I guess it's fairly expensive because of the services. The Mazetti one is in the old revamped chocolate factory (hence the name) which has been turned into a culture centre with exhibitions, chocolate museum etc. It is located a bit "off" the central station, in an area known for its nightlife (see my Möllevången nightlife and "picnic shopping" tips - I haven't come round to detailing it yet but took more photos for the purpose the other day). Accome has also just opened another hotel very close to the central station and the pretty medieval Lilla Torg square. That could of course be even more expensive as it is smaller...

Thanks for the information but we'd rather be nearer the nightlife than the trains. I've been offered an apartment that will accomodate the 3 of us for 1395 SK and we're happy enough to pay that to get the little bit extra comfort as opposed to the generic hotel rooms.

I've read through and rated some of your pages and look forward to any additions.

Clive

Sure - it's the area where the Cardigans live so you could always bump into them :)))

That is not to say that the little square doesn't have its share of nightlife. And all in all, Malmö is small enough to move around. I'll let you know if I get time to update before December. Have you got tickets for Celtic? Some Scots here at work has - for loads of money.

No tickets as yet, was maybe going to ask some of the CPH natives if they can get some for us. Have done several euro trips, never had a ticket before I left and for the most part have paid face value. That said, we are open to offers.

Will you visit Helsinborg as a "Henrik Larsson Pilgrimage" too? :) The tiny ground where he started his career is still there along with the Olympia stadium of course...

We'd considered the possibilty of stalking King Henrik but will probably leave him to enjoy his life back home. Raz has suggested a Thursday night meet and will firm up whether it'll be in Malmo or CPH once we know what Cach is up too, are you and Kieth interested?

We most certainly are! It would be easier for us if it was in Malmö though as then we could stay longer with Alice, the 8-year-old, without having to wake her up from some couch and put her on a train back home (yep, she's used to VT meetings) :))) Moreover, I have a Christmas do at work in Copenhagen on the Friday.

I think we'll go for a meet in Malmo then, will obviously let you suggest a venue that'll be child friendly. I'll let Raz know but do you want to post a meeting for all others who may be interested?
