My husband and I are wanting to travel to seville from Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal, and would like to know of the route by bus from Tavira, or if there is a train.

You can take the Lagos-Sevilha bus route from Eva-bus.There's two buses every day of the week(except weekends and holidays) and you can catch it either in Tavira or Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Check the Eva-bus website for schedules and information:http://www.eva-bus.net/home.php?lang=UK

Either bus from Tavira bus station, or train from Tavira train station.
Both reasonable price.
Bus probably better, becaus it stops right at the ferry terminal.
