If you have booked a package holiday and stay in a hotel in Sousse, it will be very easy for you to book an organised tour through the country. No hassle at all, all taken care of.

I've never been on my own in Tunisia, only on a package holiday with my parents. But I've been to other countries in the Middle East, including Palestine, Jordan, Turkey and Iran, so I consider a tour in Tunisia an easy thing to do. I would not rent a car though, but take local transport instead and try to blend in as much as possible. It is more fun that way and makes you less of a target, as a car is a symbol of wealth. You get more in touch with the locals.

Just make sure to brush up on your French before you go. :-) You'll need it.

a fance from Greece? You will miss Greek hospitality which is for free in Greece :) You have that nowhere else unless you are lucky.
I guess traveling around there is safe, but you should be careful not to
get ripped off. The saying is that you lose more money on a holiday in
Africa than in Europe :)
take care

I was twice in Tunisia, 2004. and 2005., and both times felt very safe there. You wont have any problem or trouble travelling around on your own, either by rented car or public transportations. Locals are very friendly and helpful. Language could be problem coz not many people speaks english.
Buy a good map and go, renting a car is the best way to explore the country and there are lot of things to see.
