Ephesus Travel Forum

Will be on cruise and planning on trekking to Ephesus. Should we take a prepackaged tour from the cruise line (Princess) or get a guide and car at the port to take us?

take a private car and a guide to show u around. you can not enjoy tukey with 40 people in a bus....

It's a long walk (HOURS) from the ferry terminal and the road doesn't have pavements in some areas so dangerous.If you want to get there cheaper then catch a dolmus to Selcuk and get off just before you reach it as you pass the entrance to Ephesus on your right.Unsure where they leave from.

I would do my own tour too. Last time I went by dolmus they left from the main road about 5 mins walk up from the harbour. But all you need to say to people is Efes and dolmus and they will point you in the right direction!

there are plenty of guides lurking around at the entrance to the site, so if you want to be walked and talked round there is no problem.

I will also be visiting Ephesus on cruise in November. Any information on this topic and suggestions would be appreciated. We would also love to do this on our own rather than be stuck in a big bus load of people.

We took a car and it was great because he took us to the Virgin Mary's house first and we missed the tour buses at Ephesus. Also we got to send as much time as we wanted in both places. Then he took us to a local place for lunch.
