Hi there,
well, if you mean the cheap bus connection between kathmandu-Lhasa, forget it as a tourist, since this is for locals and you wont get a permit without any agency. There are talks that the travel regulations (permit) will be abandoned soon - but that is still not clear. The cheapest overlandtour at the moment (well, August 06) would cost around 375 USD (plus 25 USD extra charges for visa/permit and another fee of around 45 USD getting seperated from the group) as a 8-day-tour to Lhasa. And that can still mean that you go by bus at least to the Tibetan border. (Enjoy a meet&greet with the maoists that way - but since official talks with the government the "donations" really are "good-will" ;-) For flights Air China has a monopoly so be prepared for Kathmandu-Lhasa prices above 330 USD one-way. Hope this is a help, happy travels! Chris
