How easy is it to travel around by public transport from Porec? We are thinking of going on Tuesday for 2 weeks but are not sure if there are places of interest close by. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Porec is a small town. You can wander there by foot.
From there you can do some daytrips to Rovinj and to Pula by bus.

Istria peninsula where Porec is not so large and is easy to navigate. Coastal towns are easily accessible with buses, but inland area with hilltop towns is not that handy without a car.
Town of Rovinj is a must see if you ask me, but also Pula, Bale, Motovun and other inland places, also Opatija (next to Rijeka), than Brijuni national park, etc. Very good site to plan your vacation: http://www.istra.hr/
