Grand Cayman Mom and 22 yr old son considering move to GC
Posted: Wed September 27, 2006 03:01 PM UTC
hi everyone. i am in the process of obtaining work as an executive assistant in grand cayman and my 22 yr old son has decided to join me.

question is...should he apply separately from me for jobs / work permit or can i apply with him as a dependant? if so, is he able to obtain a work permit once there? he is currently living in the uk working in the restaurant industry with years of canadian experience prior so he should be able to find something quite easily.

any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Dependants are not allowed to work, so your son will need to apply for his own permit. This will not be granted whilst he is on the island, so he can come in as a visitor, find suitable employment and then leave for a few weeks while his employer is applying for his permit. When this is ready he will be notified and he can return to the island and have his work permit stamped in his passport.
