Dear VT friends!
Iīm from the Czech Republic and I will go to NCSL workshop: "eTwinning for Special Educational Needs, Friday 29th September. It is very strange, because we can fly directly from Prague to Nottingham, but my trip is organized from Prague to Paris to Birmingham by airplane and by train to DERBY. I havenīt any idea what is the way to go from Derby do Nottingham. Can you help me, please? I will arrive to Derby at 1.39 PM.

Derby looks to be 10 miles or 16 kilometers from Nottingham. There should be a coach and taxi from the station. All the best at your workshop

I think this trip is organised very strangely, because you can go by train equally quickly and directly from Birmingham Airport to either Nottingham or Derby (both journeys are more or less the same length, as the cities are fairly near to each other). You have to change at Birmingham New Street station for either. If there is any way you can get your party to re-organise it would be the most sensible option.

However, getting from Derby to Nottingham is simple. Using the train is easiest (it's unlikely that there will be any long delays). You will have to buy a new ticket at Nottingham for the trip, but this will not be a problem. www.nationalrail.co.uk is the best site for timetables, and you need not book or purchase your ticket in advance.

There is a coach from Derby to Nottingham (www.nationalexpress.com for times and fares) but this will be slower than the train.

I assume you are staying at the NCSL accommodation? If so, then they offer free pre-arranged pick-ups. It is worth contacting them to organise this as it will save getting a bus/taxi from Nottingham station to the venue. If they have organised your travel, you might ask them if they will collect you from Derby station and then your problem would be solved!

I should have said; don't take a taxi from Derby to Nottingham. It will cost rather a lot of money!

Derby is a 'stones throw' from Nottinghas as we say (meaning very near). The train is cheap and very regular, and the best option if you are already at the station. Just buy the ticket on the day.

If you find yourself in the city centre for some reason don't bother with a National Express Coach. There are regular local bus services between the two cities run by a company called 'Trent Barton'. The fastest bus is called the 'Red Arrow', just buy a ticket from the driver.
