Have been to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province last May Holiday. It's very dry there, you must prepare some skin lotion with you. Moreover, there is a climate feature there, that is the temprature difference. It's cold in the morning and evening, but warm, even hot in the afternoon. That's all my feeling. : ) Hope it helps!

I lived in Gansu for three years but Minle is not a place I know. On the map I see it is near Zhangye, a small city I have passed by on the train. A friend of mine is from Zhangye but he never mentioned Minle. All I can offer is take the train from Lanzhou to Zhangye and then ask about a bus if you speak Chinese. If not, get some student in Lanzhou who speaks English to write some useful phrases in Chinese characters on paper and keep it with you. The locals in that area will not all speak standard Chinese but they can read it. It is a remote area with hardly any trees and not much else. I have never been to Nepal but to me it looks like the photos I have seen of Nepal; all dry, rough mountains and lots of sheep.
Climate is warm in summer, cool to cold in fall and very cold in winter. Nights are a season colder than days. Air is quite dry. Get some snake oil lotion at any supermarket in Lanzhou before you get far from civilization. It keeps your skin coated all day. Try changing the title of your post to something specific so folks will know what you want.
