| Maastricht | work in Heerlen Posted: Mon September 25, 2006 09:00 AM UTC
Please help, I have a business training in Heerlen the first week of Oct, and trying to figure out two tings. I will be traveling from the states, should I get off the plane in Amsterdam and travel to Heerlen by train if I have the time or fly into Maastricht. Also would it be possible to stay in Maastricht and travel each day to the training class or is this to far, I wont be getting a car so I will have to do public transportant. Can anyone reccomend a nice hotel in either of the cities.
Thanks DLROGUE |

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Heerlen takes about 3 hours. One way ticket is Euro 27,10 2nd class.
More at: http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Nether I don't think there are direct flights from the States to Maastricht. KLM has direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Maastricht Aachen Airport From To Flight number Day Departure Arrival Amsterdam Maastricht KLM1713 1234567 09.35 10.25 Amsterdam Maastricht KLM1717 12345-7 17.20 18.10 Amsterdam Maastricht KLM1719 12345-7 20.15 21.05 More at: http://www.maa.nl/en/content.asp?i=2 Travelling from Maastricht to Heerlen by train takes about half a hour (station to station). Day return ticket is Euro 7.50 2nd class. Hello,
Don't fly into Maastricht it's not really worth the hastle. If you do, no problem either, there are frequent busses linking the airport with the city. But for less money you can take the train, it's convenient and much more frequent than flying. Every hour a train leaves from Amsterdam for Heerlen, and every hour one leaves for Maastricht as well. You can catch both trains and get-off at station "Sittard", there local trains connect you to Heerlen and Maastricht. From Amsterdam Schiphol airport, take a train to Utrecht, from there you can catch any train to any part of the country, it's your fastest link. Commuting between Heerlen and Maastricht is very well possible. Trains connect both cities 3x per hour (app. 25 minutes travel time) on a scenic route. Busses connect as well, Maastricht has got a very good network of busses throughout the city and Heerlen has got a dense regional network of busses, most drive 2x per hour. Maastricht is certainly the more touristy part and though I was born in Heerlen and this city has a special place in my heart, I recommend you to opt for Maastricht. There are lots of hotels are at your disposal, I do recommend you stay not to far from the trainstation, this saves you time to commute.
