Does printen keep for a long while, or does it go bad in a week or even a couple of days? It sounds like it might be a harder cookie type thing, but the pics don't look all that hard. I was wondering if it would be suitable for gifts that wouldn't be given until a couple weeks after purchase.

Do not worry, the printen is wrapped up quite well. So it makes a good gift. There are two types, a harder and softer varition and flavors among those. I have oredered them from Germany via mail and they re always fine. Printen are typical Christmas food in the rest of Germany. They are baking the ones that will be consumed in December now. Go figure.
