Hi, I read alot about Xitang and would like to visit the town. Are there still tourist buses going there from Shanghai on the weekends? Please let me know the exact location where we can wait for the bus, the times of departure, the time it takes and the cost.
Would we be better off taking the train by ourselves? If we decide to stay the night here or nearby, are there any recommendations? |

Yes, the bus leaves from Shanghai Stadium Sightseeing Bus Centre at 0900 and costs 120 RMB each. It'll be a lot cheaper taking the train/bus to Jiashan and then changing to a minibus/share-taxi.
Stay in the old town, not in the swanky new hotels!

Any ideas on accomodations?
So I will take a train from SH to Jiashan and then a bus to Xitang right?
