| Nuuk | Travelling to Nuuk for jobhunting holiday Posted: Tue September 12, 2006 09:27 PM UTC
I am hoping to realise my lifelong arctic dream and to find a job in one of the Nordic countries very soon. I am already scheduling a trip to North Norway in October for some jobhunting (as most nordic countries prefer real applications rather than internet-based applications) but I've also not given up on Greenland yet entirely.
I was thinking of maybe going over to Greenland as well one of the coming months, and to go jobhunting in Nuuk. Obviously I'd aim for hotels or tourism industry jobs, as I don't speak the local language and would probably not find a job in office environments easily (although that would be even better). I searched for some good travel deals, but all flights from UK to Greenland seem to go over Copenhagen and are extremely expensive. From Reykjavik I couldn't find any suitable flights directly to Nuuk. Is there any cost-effective way to fly to Greenland from the UK? Jobhunting advice would be greatly welcome of course as well :) |

There is no cheap way of getting there. There is something dodgy that goes on with the air greenland website, though: the more you search for fares the more expensiv e they become. I think it is probably like one of those things where they assume that, if fares for flights on the same day are searched for a few times, there must be some high demand for them so they up the prices. Basically, don't search fares too much until you are ready to book them.
