Bilbao Travel Forum

Hi we are looking for somewhere to stay for 2 nights somewhere between Bilbao & San Sebastian. Also any recommendations on places to visit around this area

I'm on my way out of town in about five minutes. If I don't get hold of you tomarrow, please ask me directly.

Reccomend you stay in Bilbao. San Sebastian can be visited by train or bus for a day trip. Best to book hotels if only to avoid a langage problem before you go and suggest you try Hostal Estrella or Hotel Sirimiri. Both are near to Casco Viejo the old town where the nightlife is. Plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to visit. Bilbao might strike you as an industrial town but it's a great place in its own right if you only have a couple of days. The people are great and welcome tourists. Sounds like you've got one day to tour so San Sebastian is the best choice for a day out. There's a lot to see in Bilbao anyway and I think you'll enjoy it. As the locals say " this is not France, this is not Spain, this is the Basque Country."

Hi thanks for this it is really useful. We are travelling back from dropping our son at his 'year out' at Perpignan University and have a couple of days to spare before catching the ferry back home. We wanted to be near or in Biblao the night before our crossing so we don't have the hastle of driving too far.

Go to Mundaka or Gernika!

I had a nice day and evening in Lekeitio, a small fishing village about 1/2 way between Bilbao and Sanse. It was a weekend so the locals were in the plaza and bars all day long. Beautiful harbor. I stayed at Hotel Zubieta. Quyite nice. Lekeitio is not a tourist town but very good food.
