Greetings, my friend and I will be spending 5 weeks trekking and camping in patagonia come December. We would like to rent a house in futaleufu for a home base. Does anyone have any suggestions as if this is a good idea and/or where can i research about renting a house. Thanks

There is at least one campsite, several hotel type places and hospedajes where you stay in someone's home. I think the chances of renting a house for yourselves would be slim and I think you would need to wait to see when you get there if it is possible. You might try emailing the municipality:

I do not know the area you are looking at staying in, or your budget, but the web site: vrbo.com (vacation rentals buy owner have lots of places for rent.
