Sushi and buffet should not be in the same sentence. Sushi should served fresh.
I do not know of any Other places.

Yeah, buffet sushi is usually pretty awful.
The Japanese area of LA is very near Santa Monica in Westwood north of Olympic on Sawtelle, but also some on the east side of the 405. It's good food, very authentic, and you'll save a bit on the usual "atmosphere" expenses.
