Baku train to Tbilisi
Posted: Fri September 8, 2006 10:42 AM UTC
I read somewhere that there is a night train from Baku to Tbilisi. Can someone please confirm this! The day I'd like to go is Sept 23 which is a Saturday. Would it be ok to buy a ticket one day in advance? What would it cost?

Thanks!

Hi Johannes,

there is a train. I guess it is advisable to get the ticket in advance, main train station should be the right direction.
They skipped the first class confort train which was there until recently, so the "regular one" remains. It should be more affordable, and is said to be OK.

Unfortunately, by using the train, you will not see anything from the mountain ranges during the trip.

Best regards,
M.

The train costs about usd 15 and departs from Baku at 8.35 pm. It's very slow, when I went it took 16,5 hours of which 4 was waiting at the border. According to people that travelled before the border stop is usually "only" 2 hours.
